Screen printing is not a photocopy. Each color needs its own screen. Each screen is its own pass on the press. That is why one color costs the least. It is also why the dots in a good design are there on purpose.
This is an example, not one of Eddie's jobs. We built it to show how a design gets pulled apart into separate screens, on the kind of artwork he draws.
See the small crosshair in the same corner of all three? Each one prints in that screen's own ink. It is called a registration mark. Line all three up and the colors stack on top of each other. Miss by a little and they land crooked. It never shows up on the shirt.
Look at what each screen holds by itself. Green is the dot pattern. White is the letters. Red is the frame and the stars. Not one of them is the design. All three together are.
The order matters. Green goes down first, then white, then red on top. Look at the finished shirt and you can see why: the red frame crosses over the white letters. Ink can only sit on top of what went down before it. Run them in the wrong order and you get a different shirt.
The dots do real work too. One ink can fade out by covering less of the shirt. That is why a screen printed shirt looks printed, and not like a photo stuck on.

Yes. The main design is screen printed. Each player's name and number goes on in vinyl. That way one run can have forty different backs, with no extra screens.
Yes. We do these all the time. You pick one design and set a window. Your people order and pay in that window. Then it all prints as one run at the bulk price. Pick up in Falfurrias, ask about drop off for a school or business, and we can ship to members out of town.
Yes. Hoodies run alongside tees on the same design all the time, which is how most cold weather team orders and event merch go out. The blanks cost more, so they price separately inside the same quote.
